Special Projects

Washington Union is very proactive in seeking out extra funding to supplement our standard federal, state and local allocations.  In fact, we have dedicated an entire department to the purpose of seeking and applying for special funding.  The Department of Categorical and Special Projects writes grant proposals to secure these funds and then manages the distribution of the money once it is received.

Any extra funding helps WUHS to improve the quality of education that our students receive.  We use these special funds for many programs, including:

  • Gifted and talented programs
  • Visual and performing arts
  • Migrant studies
  • Programs for English language learners
  • Assisting the economically and educationally disadvantaged
  • Providing physical and mental health services to students in need
