Alternative Education

In addition to its mainstream educational curriculum, Washington Union High School also provides education alternatives to students with special needs.  These options include:

Easton Continuation High School

Easton Continuation High School provides curriculum utilizing the block schedule.  This program is aligned with the regular high school block schedule and allows for transition between the two schools.  A student takes four classes each semester and has an opportunity to earn a total of forty (40) units per semester.

Transfer to Easton Continuation High School

Students may be transfer to Easton Continuation High School for the following reasons:

  1. Caused/attempted/threatened physical injury.
  2. Possessed/sold/furnished firearm/knife or dangerous object.
  3. Possessed/used/sold/furnished/under influence of controlled substance.
  4. Offered arranged or negotiated to sell controlled substance or alcoholic beverage.
  5. Robbery/extortion.
  6. Caused/attempted to cause damage to school/private property.
  7. Stole/attempted to steal school/private property.
  8. Possessed/used tobacco.
  9. Committed obscene act/engaged in habitual profanity.
  10. Possessed/arranged negotiated to sell any drug paraphernalia.
  11. Disrupted school activities/defied valid authority.
  12. Caused/attempted to cause or participated in an act of hate violence.
  13. Excessive absences or tardies.

When a student is referred to Easton Continuation High School, he/she must demonstrate satisfactory academics, behavior and attendance before returning to the main campus.

Students at Easton Continuation High School lose all privileges for participation in any after school activities.

Easton Continuation High School Dress Code

Students attending Easton Continuation High are expected to follow the dress code enforced on Washington Union High School campus.  It is emphasized that the following colors are not acceptable under any conditions on campus.

  • Red, blue or brown t-shirts cannot be worn under any circumstances.
  • Language is expected to be appropriate at all times.  Use of foul language is inappropriate and shows lack of self-respect.

Project Rebound

ISP students work independently on their assignments and meet once a week with the teacher.

Other Alternative Education Programs include Adult Education, the Portable Assistant Study Sequence Program (P.A.S.S.) a program for migrant students and Home Instruction, designed for students with medical problems.
